I was invited to a Christmas party tonight with my Mommy.  The people where she works think I'm a little darling and they look forward to my visits.  Last night Mommy and Daddy gave me a hair cut, and Mommy is going to give me another bath, and put some rocking perfume on me, paint my nails and help me pick out a dress for the festivities.   I hope she remembers to bring treats and the camera so I can share some awesome photos with all my fans.  Keep rocking it like a mini poodle, I know I will be.  Do you think I can find a dance partner tonight?  That's a silly question.  Stay tuned for pics of your favourite poodle pooch.

Nurse Jewel at your service

Hello Poodle Pooch fans, I'm on my way to work with Mommy tonight at the nursing home.  Daddy said I need to have my own nursing hat but Mommy didn't have time to make me one yet.  I hope Mommy realizes who is in charge tonight.   My main goal as always is to put some smiles on many faces, and make new friends.  Maybe the seniors will be rocking it like a mini poodle by morning.

I haven't been getting much fan mail lately, so I thought I'd let you all see my latest glamour shot.  I call it "I'm sexy & I know it"  and I'm still rocking it like a mini poodle... are you?

Hello poodlepooch fans.  My mommy and Daddy gave me a cool doo last week so I will be much cooler when I go outside to play go faster with Max.  Daddy says the fur they cut off was bigger than I am.  How is that possible?  At least he left all the cute on me!  I'm much happier now because it is getting warmer outside and it's just no fun playing in a heavy fur coat on hot days.  Daddy is teaching me "far enough" and I'm learning pretty quick how far I'm allowed to go without permission to follow him.  I've even learned I'm not allowed to follow Mommy or Daddy into the mudroom when they are doing laundry or going outside through the back door.

On the weekend .we all went out on the back stoop after Daddy mowed the lawns and just spent some quiet time together.  That is, all of us except Max.  He's never calm or quiet outside.  Even Mr. Peaches came outside for a few minutes, but he hasn't learned "far enough" yet so Daddy put him back in the house when he wanted to wonder down the ramp too many times.  Daddy got a new lawn mower so now our yard looks really nice and we don't have to wait for the other people to come mow it like before.   Daddy is going to take me for a ride in the truck soon.  He didn't say where we are going but I hope cookies are involved.  I love lean treats.  Maybe we're going on a picnic?   Well, keep rocking it like a mini poodle and let me know what's happening in your life.  Don't be shy, I only play bite.

If you are going to rock it like a mini poodle, you have to wear the right "bling" .  Mommy bought me all kinds of girlie things for my hair today.  Here's just one set, they are green butterflies.

Cute, right?

I am sure my parents have a food fetish.  First there was Pum-kin, the all white cat who bosses everyone around, then there was Apple, then Mr. Peaches, and now Daddy calls me "Peanut".  What's up with that?  I might be small and cute but I don't look like a peanut; Do I?  Oh well, as long as he takes me out to piddle and play, and lets me snuggle with him, I guess I won't complain.

My brother Max and I got hair cuts last week while Mommy went to the eye doctor.  I'm glad she is getting her eyes fixed because we are just too cute not to see.  Love, Jewel

Tuesday, 4 February 2014

I know you all are going to be disappointed, but you will have to wait a little longer for the photos of my new doo.  We didn't make it to the groomer's today because the weatherman said the roads were going to get messy.  Mommy still has to walk with a walker or go in a wheelchair, and Daddy didn't want her to be out in bad weather.  It's a good thing we didn't go because the roads got messy quick around 1pm.  Daddy said we will either have to reschedule or go to the groomer here in town instead.  As soon as I get my hair done I will have Daddy post some photos for my fans.

Hello poodlepoochblog fan club, what did you all do this weekend?  I watched Puppy Bowl X with my family today.  I think I should be on that, I would have rocked it like a super star.  I might have got a few penalties for flirting with the other puppies though.  I was also disappointed with the penguin cheerleaders.  I could have shown them a few moves.  I hope you all had a good weekend too.

Hi fans and blog followers.  It's been a while since I was able to update my blog.  Mommy was sick and Daddy said he had to take her to a vet for humans to get her knee fixed.  They were gone for 6 hours that day.  Do they not realize how long that is in doggy hours?  What were they thinking?  I had to entertain myself and the other furkids a lot this week while they went away for appointments for Mommy's knee.  One day I pretended to be, of all things, a cat.  I guess I should have listened better because I didn't hear Mommy and Daddy come home, and Mommy caught me on the table being silly.

I also got caught jumping over the the things that were suppose to keep me out of the kitchen and mudroom.  I couldn't help it, I was so excited to see them come home.  Today a truck came to the house ... a BIG TRUCK, and the driver is scared of Max, so Daddy put our sweaters and coats on us and took us out to play in the yard until he unloaded all his boxes and brought them in the house.  Now Mr. Peaches is up on top of them.  He's so silly.  I got cold outside so Daddy brought me in and carried me all the way and then Mommy wrapped me up in a warm towel.  That felt so good.   Then Daddy went out and played with Max some more and I heard Max barking at Daddy.  I bet they were playing go faster or some kind of boy game.

Oh guess what!   This coming Tuesday Max and I are going for a car ride, and we're going to get our hair cut, and Daddy said I can get some pretty things to put in my hair on my ears.  I'll be smashingly cute then.  I will have Mommy and Daddy post pictures here and on facebook after we go to the groomers.  We aren't going to Max's groomer this time.  The lady that is going to give us hair cuts helped some other puppies from PC Pound Puppies find homes, so Daddy said he wanted to show his gratitude.  I'm not sure what a gratitude is, but I guess it's ok to show it at the groomers.  Well that's all for now, keep rocking it like a mini poodle and check back often, you may just see some new pictures of me.  :D

My daddy tricked me tonight.  I thought we were going to cuddle on the couch but he really wanted to trim my nails.  He said they were getting way too long, but not as long as the Long Island Medium.  I'm not a medium, I'm a petite.    I heard him telling someone that he still wants to do my dew claws and my back nails.  How am I suppose to scratch up the lawn if I have short nails?   I wonder if Mommy will paint them?  What colour would compliment my fur if she does?  At least I got a cookie out of the deal, so it was kind of worth it.  He said he was proud of me because I didn't resist too much.  Sometimes I'm so good I shock myself.
Question:  What's apricot and white and acts goofy after it goes potty outside?

Answer:   Me of course!

I'm sorry it's been a few days since my daddy and I have had time to update my blog.   I've been busier than a 3 legged pit bull at a fire hydrant christening .  That's another dog joke.  Read it to your furkids, I know THEY will laugh.   My mommy has been boot scooting around the house in a chair on wheels the last few days and I have to make sure she is paying attention by running around her and under the chair.

We've had a lot of company at the house since Mommy hurt her knee again.  While Max tries to win them over with barking and being silly, I win their hearts by just being adorable ol me!  What can I say, it's a gift.  I hope all my followers are visitors are doing well.  When my Mommy is feeling some better and able to get around, I want to go to the city and see my friends from PC Pound Puppies, and to give my furry friends hope they will find loving homes soon too!   Have you hugged a furkid today?

P.S.  I met Eddie Pineapple today!  <3

Here's my new photos, the little schnauzer boy is my new brother, Max, and there is one of my mommy holding me too.

My daddy just combed me all out except my neck and chin, I needed a little break and a little cookie.  When my mommy gets home maybe she will take my picture so I can show you how pretty I look now.
I'm here!  I'm here!  Let the bells ring out and the banners fly.  Feast your eyes on me.  It's too good to be true but I'm here.  I'm here!  And.... I'm sporting a new pink collar and they bought me a 15 foot leash so we can go on walks with Max.  Max and I remembered each other and we're playing already, andI'm exploring again, but just in the house.
If you are new to my poodle pooch blog, please take a moment to place  your paw on your mouse and scroll down to read about my past.  If you wish to leave a comment that would be great, just please be kind.  I will be adding updated photos soon, I hope you will enjoy them as much as I will sharing them with you.  My friends are the best!   I will try to reply to all friendly comments.

This Dog Rocks A Mean Blog

Hi, my name is Jewel, and I'm an apricot coloured mini poodle with many stories to tell.  I hope you will choose to follow my blog, not just because I'm adorable, but because I love everyone, and you'll love me too.

  ABOUT MY PAST

My new mommy and daddy found some photos of me from last year which I will share in a few shakes of a poodle's tail, but first let me tell you what they have told me of my younger years.   Daddy says he first met me in the spring of 2010, I don't know what that is in dog years.  That's a dog joke, if you don't have fur you probably won't get it.   It was during a heavy rain storm with lots of loud noises and flashes in the sky.  Mommy and Daddy say it's called thunder and lightning, but I only remember it was scary and wet.  My fur was a mess because I had gotten into a mud poodle.  That's another dog joke, ha ha!
Behind my new parents' home was an old mobile home that no one lived in, but there were cats and other furry kids living under it to stay dry.  I was the only dog there.  I didn't live there, I had ran away from home I guess, I don't remember.  I was looking for a place to stay dry and safe too.  At one point, I sneaked out into the storm and that's when my new daddy saw me for the first time.  He tried to catch me but I was too fast for him.  I ran back under that home because I'm not suppose to talk to strangers.  I didn't know at the time he wanted to take me into their home so I could be fed and taken care of for the night.
The next day it stopped raining and he saw me out snooping around by his fence.  I saw him with his little doggies outside and I crept up to the fence to take a peek.  He had two schnauzers, a boy and a girl.  The girl, Apple, was so pretty, but the boy.....  Well we know what boys are like.  He was bigger than Apple and a  lot louder.  His name is Max.  Max sure had a lot to say, he barked at everyone going by, and he even barked at Apple, but I know they were just playing.  I still wasn't sure about Max at first, but I crept closer still.
Let me tell you the problem with schnauzers.  They have excellent noses.  Apple must have smelled my fur that was still wet and muddy from the night before, because she told her daddy I was there.  Her daddy put her on her leash and came around the fence.  I wasn't falling for that trick, I ran, but I didn't run far, just back under the empty mobile home.  I guess that wasn't a smart move because Apple's daddy called animal control and they came and got me and took me back to my home at the time.  The man from animal control knew me because I had ran away from home before.  I don't know why I ran away, no one does, maybe I was lonely there.  All that would change as you'll see, but it was a long journey.
As the saying goes, you just can't keep a good mini poodle down.  Well that's what poodles say, but schnauzers may have a different version of that.  Oh, don't think I don't love schnauzers, because as you'll see, I really do.  About a week went by, or 49 days in doggy time, and I was back.  I was sneaking around trying to get a glimpse of Apple and Max out playing in their fenced in yard.  They were having such fun, and I probably wanted to play with them too, but I knew what would happen if their daddy saw me.  Well, my secret friend Apple did see me again, and told her brother.  Max barked at me and I barked back but I couldn't do that scary bark like Max can.  For a little boy he sure has a big mouth, but really, between you, I, and the fire hydrant, he's really a nice boy.  He's also goofy!
As my new parents tell me, it was at that time some neighbors from the apt complex saw me and tried to catch me but I outran them.  I was hiding under that empty old trailer again when I saw the animal control man pull up and stop.  I wasn't going to come out for him this time, so I hid.  Let me tell you, those people will play tricks on you.  He set up a wire cage and put food inside.  Not just any food, hot dogs!   I don't know why they call them hot dogs, it wasn't hot and it didn't have fur, but it sure smelled yummy.  I waited for him to leave and then I ran in to get the food but the door on the cage slammed shut.  I was trapped!  Again I was returned to my home, but I would escape again.
Late one night after another terrible rain, about a week since my last adventure, I escaped again but this time I played it smart.  I went another way down the street and found a place where human kids play with a ball and stick and they run around in circles and .... well... that's not how we poodles play ball, but they enjoy it.  There was no one there that night except for some bunnies, I think I scared them away.  I'm not a very big girl, but I'm bigger than a bunny that's for sure.  I was hiding in some wet grass on a little hill, when who should walk by but Apple and her daddy.  I was probably thinking how nice it would be to walk in Apple's paws, but I stayed hidden in the grass.  Then as fate would have it, Apple's nose kicked into high gear again.
Apple pulled her daddy to a stop and insisted they come back my way.  I didn't want to run into the woods, and I sure didn't want to give away my hiding spot, so I lay very still.  The next thing I know Apple is sniffing me and nudging me with her little black nose.  I kept watching her father, he's a lot bigger than me.  Finally he came closer and got down low and talked to Apple and I.  I was too scared at first to know what he was saying, but he didn't seem mad so I let him stroke my fur.   It felt so good when they paid attention to me, it was like I just made some new friends.  Then he picked me up and carried me away.  Here we go again I thought.
WOW!  As in BOW WOW!  They took me to their house and even let me go inside where they dried me off and cleaned me up, and even shared their food.  Let me tell you, those schnauzers sure are a curious lot.  They sniffed me all over and walked around me like they had never seen an extremely gorgeous apricot mini poodle before.  And then ..... Apple got down in the front with her butt up in the air and the games were on.  We had a wonderful time ... while it lasted.  Oh, and I remember the toys!  Up until that time, I had never seen so many toys all in one place before.  It was like Santa Paws lived there.
But alas, I couldn't stay.  I was someone else's "pet" and they had to do what they thought was best, and they took me over to another house and that family promised Apple & Max's daddy they would give me a good home, and I'd be safe.  But it wasn't long before I was back to my old tricks, and sneaking off to see Apple, Max and their parents.  They always returned me well fed though.  then somehow, we lost touch.
Don't be too sad for me, things worked out great in the end.  After being picked up numerous times, I was taken in by PC Pound Puppies and they found me a foster home.  I loved it there.  they were really nice to me while I stayed there.  Then they found me a new home, with a new mommy and a new furry sibling.  I think I was there for about 14 months.  That's a pretty long time in doggy years.  They were really good to me.  One might say they spoiled me, but you can't spoil a poodle, we're special.
Sometimes humans have to make some pretty hard decisions, and as luck would have it, my family had to do the same.  I know it was a hard decision because they told me how much they loved me, and they showed me too.  My furry sibling was getting very sick and not as playful as he used to be.  He was starting to be mean to me.  I still love him, and it's not his fault he is not feeling good.  Because they loved me they made a decision that was very hard to make.  They asked PC Pound Puppies to take me back and find me a new home.  Not just any home, that would be like just a house, but a home with a family.  People who would care for me and love me and make sure I have proper medical care (you know, the "v" word).  She wanted me to be loved the way she loved me.  Why me?  Simple!  I'm adorable, it would be much easier for the rescue people to find me a home than my ailing sibling.  Sure I'll miss them, I always will, and I hope they will come visit me sometimes.  I know this was the only logical solution, because my furry little sibling needs all the attention right now that he can get and my mommy knew someone would want to take me in.
What happened next you are not going to believe.  Apple's mommy and daddy saw my picture on something called face book, I guess it's a book of pretty faces because I was on it.  They didn't recognize me at first, but they shared my picture hoping I would find another loving home.  Later that night, they had a talk, and they thought, "if this pretty little girl needs a home, and we have room in our home and our hearts, why don't we adopt her?"  And so they answered the call and went to see my friends at PCPP and applied to adopt me.
It wasn't until the next day that Apple & Max's daddy realized I was that same mini poodle he had saved from the storms and the streets so many times 3 years ago.  How cool is that?  Sadly, Apple went on to Rainbow Bridge earlier this year, but I know she is looking down on us and saying, "What took you so long?".    So, tomorrow morning, they are picking me up, and bringing me home with them.  They are going to let me use Apple's bowl and sleep with her sleepy baby if I want to, because, Apple would like that.  Max is still a loud goofball, and I can't wait to play with him again.  I bet he'll remember me in no time because I'm too darn cute to forget.  I also hear they have a boy cat that thinks it's a schnauzer.  Poor boy, he could have been a poodle wannabe if he only knew.  His name is Mr. Peaches, and I can't wait to play with him.   I remember Pum-kin too, she is a pretty white cat but she doesn't like to play as much as the rest do.  She just likes to sit in the window and soak up the sun.
Now that you know about my past, please come back and visit often.  My new parents will be taking lots of pictures of me and my new family (who were once old friends) and maybe even a video or two.  Oh, remember at the beginning of my story I promised you some pictures of me from Oct, 2012?  They will be posted soon.  Please come back and play, and pray for all those who have touched my life in such a positive way, and especially for my family that had to give me up so my furry little sibling could get the care needed.  I'll be just fine here, you'll see.  Apple didn't come into my life for no reason at all, and I will make her proud.  Now go explore my awesome blog, and rock it like a mini poodle.
